Class Description
This class will be a full three hours and will include the Science, Spanish, and fun activities that the teens met about and discussed.
We will include packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, Homeless kits for Manna’s Market, making ornaments and crafts for Christmas gifts for family members.
Each week will include the labs and experiments for science module 1 (Integrated Physics and Chemistry) units 1-5 including the semester exam. Parents will be provided with a portfolio and a transcript of their students’ work and can assign a grade and a half credit of high school science for their child. This course does include a significant amount of learning to be done at home each week including lessons and quizzes. Labs and tests will be done in class on Fridays.
Each week will also include a 30 minute Spanish lesson. Parents will be provided with a portfolio for this semester as well. This semester will focus on lessons 7-15. This semester will complete half of the Spanish foreign language program and parents can use the portfolio to assign their child a grade and a half credit of high school foreign language.
The reason this is a full three hour block is because we will be flowing between subjects throughout the full 3 hours. The order of subjects and time frames will be different each week depending on the needs of the labs and experiments. This means students cannot sign up for just part of the Teen Block.
All parents of our Lake O campus teens have been communicated with separately in more detail about this format. However if there are any new questions please contact Cherith Goodemoot directly.
