Class Description
In this class students will be hand carving a few different items, starting with a small comfort cross from bass wood. The kit you will get in this class includes a straight knife, glove, thumb guard, and a cross blank. Once the cross is done, you can add an eye hook and lacing to make a necklace for it.
*This is a repeat of the same class that was offered last semester. We wanted to offer this again to give everyone the opportunity to take the class because it was so popular. We plan to have a Wood Carving II class in the future. If you’re interested in taking that class (Wood Carving II), you’ll need to take this class first! *
If you already took this class, you are allowed to take it again knowing IT WILL BE THE SAME PROJECTS THAT WERE DONE LAST SEMESTER. If you are a returning student, please be sure to register for this class as a “returning student” (there will be a drop menu for returning students $10). The cost is $5 cheaper (since you already own the knife kit).
FYI- the woodworking teacher will be absent 2 weeks this semester due to a family wedding out of state. We will do something else with the students for those 2 weeks.
Class Requirements:
The only requirement by the teacher is that the students must be able to cut their own meat at the dinner table.
I (Mandy) am adding……Parents must be comfortable with their child using a very sharp knife with not a ton of supervision. (student/teacher ratio is 15:1)
Materials Needed: All materials will be provided by teacher. UNLESS you are a returning student, then you will be expected to bring your knife, glove & thumb guard to class with you.
Teacher: Brown
Cost: $15.00 for New Students, $10.00 for Returning Students
