Class Description
In this class we will be moving beyond just music to foster a lifestyle of engaging with God, focusing on heart-posture, understanding theology, and empowering students to lead. Key approaches include modelling authentic worship, using creative, age-appropriate methods, and encouraging daily personal worship.
Every Friday morning our class will lead worship following announcements. Some weeks the class will be doing the devotional through a short drama, scriptures and visual aids.
Core Principles we will learn
-Define Worship as Lifestyle: Learning together that worship is more than music; it is an everyday, 24/7 response to God through actions, thoughts, and service.
-Focus on God’s Attributes: Helping students understand who God is (holy, just, loving) so their worship is rooted in truth, not just emotion.
-Model Authentic Worship: Students need to see adults worshipping passionately. Our own sincerity and vulnerability are the most effective teaching tools as teachers and parents.
-Empower Youth Leadership: Involve them in leading through music, drama, or AV teams to foster ownership.
Practical Activities and Methods
Incorporating Creative Arts: We will use art to allow students to draw their thanks or visualize Bible verses.
Silence and Reflection: Introduce moments of silence and structured prayer to help students settle into God’s presence.
Scripture-Based Worship: Having students read scriptures out loud to connect worship with the Word.
Curate Relatable Music: We will use musical styles that resonate with all ages, while ensuring the lyrics are rich in theology.
Encourage Expression: Invite, rather than demand, physical expressions like lifting hands or kneeling.
