Class Description
Are you interested in using a sewing machine? Do you have some experience in using a sewing machine and would love to learn more? We will learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine. The Do’s & Don’ts of the machine. Also, we will be making up to 5 projects!
Class Requirements:
Students must be able to listen and follow directions, especially if they are borrowing a sewing machine. These items are tools not toys.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
– Bring your own sewing machine OR we have some moms that are willing to lend theirs during the semester
– For your projects you will need to provide your own cotton fabric material.
Options: Use fabric from home, buy fabric from the store or we can ask for fabric donations (projects listed below)
– white thread or a thread color that matches your fabrics
– Fabric needed per project:
1. Pocket tissue holder
1 – fat quarter cotton fabric (fat quarter measures 18″ x 22″)
2. Pillowcase (may want to buy this new, due to amount of fabric needed)
3/4 yard of main cotton fabric ( 27″ x 42″ )
1/4 yard of cotton fabric ( 9″ x 42″)
2 – 3 inches piece of accent fabric x 42″
3. Zipper Pouch
2 – fat quarter cotton fabric ( 18″ x 22″ ) (one quarter will be outer fabric/ other quarter will be the liner fabric)
4. Tote Bag
3 – fat quarter cotton fabric ( 18″ x 22″ ) (outer fabric / liner fabric / handles)
5. Stuffed Animal Bunny or Bear
2 – fat quarter cotton fabric ( 18″ x 22″ )
Total material needed:
8 – fat quarter cotton fabric
3/4 yard cotton fabric
1/4 yard cotton fabric
2/3 inches cotton fabric
* Rough estimate if you were to buy all fabric from store would range $25 – $35. Look for sales if needed @ Joanns Fabric, etc.
Materials Needed:
Must have: fabric for projects ( list above) & a running sew machine (if you do not have one, we will reach out to the agape moms who offered to let us use theirs)
