Class Description
week 1: What to bring when fishing, what to wear, and when to go.
week 2: Spinning reels, how to set drag, and practice casting.
week 3: Baitcasting reels, how to cast, set tension, drag, and how to remove a birds nest.
week 4: What lures to use, what fish they catch, what size to use, and when to use them.
week 5: What to look for when casting, how far to cast, structure, and where the fish reside.
week 6: Break week.
week 7: Unhooking, gut hooking, foul hooking, and what to do if you hook yourself.
week 8: Tying knots, spooling line, line weights, difference between mono fluoro and braided fishing line.
week 9: Rod and reel specifications, rod lengths, and why you would choose one over the other.
week 10: I will let students decide what they want to learn, or recap on.
Class Requirements: We will be handling sharp hooks, and potentially knives, so students will have to be aware of their surroundings. This class is more geared towards 9 and up, but if you believe your 8 yr old is ready, I am more than happy to teach.
FYI, there will be an adult helping in this class.
Materials Needed: If you have a pole, whether it works or not, please bring it in. If you do not, I will be providing some.
